Collaborate with school leaders, executive management and other areas to develop school budgets and manage cash flow. Ensure timely payment of vendors and repayment of debt; ensure school revenues and expenditures are recorded and documented so that external audits will be free of findings. May be assigned schools in multiple states. Perform duties in compliance with the department's accounting manuals, each assigned state's public school accounting regulations, and manager's instructions.

Duties/Responsibilities
Approve and code invoices and generally assure proper accounting for school expenditures. Give appropriate instructions to Budget Assistant(s) to ensure proper completion of related accounts payable tasks.
Together with School Leaders, develop proposed, revised and final budgets for assigned schools. Meet deadlines for budget processes as established by states, authorizers, and other stakeholders. On an ongoing basis, monitor school cash flows and budget position; identify problem areas and initiate resolution with the School Leader, executive management, and other appropriate parties.
Collaborate with other corporate service areas to identify expenses to be allocated or charged to school budgets, discuss with School Leaders, and resolve any concerns. Work closely with Grants department to reflect grant-related revenues and expenses in school budget so school needs can be met on a timely basis.
Interact with Accounts Payable, School Leaders, Boards of Directors, and any other departments involved in managing school finances. Present budgetary information and financials to school boards throughout the year. Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion regarding sensitive information.
Directly or through Assistant(s), provide support to external auditors during annual audit processes. Coordinate and provide support for annual loan applications. Provide draft budgets and other support needed for special projects such as new charter applications.
Monitor the accuracy, timeliness and general quality of Budget Assistants' work and address any areas of concern.
Respond to inquiries from vendors, school personnel and others, regarding pending or paid items; address questions, concerns or disputes escalated by Assistant(s).
Collaborate with team members and other corporate departments to ensure seamless flow of operations necessary to support school business and operations.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in business or accounting, or two plus years of relevant experience.
Experience in school finance is preferable.
