Description Job Summary: (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned):

The Director, Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) Development and External Affairs will be responsible for developing and maintaining a strong presence among elected officials and key stakeholders that increases Solutions reputation and supports the continued retention and expansion of Calpine Energy Solutions’ CCA business. This role will support both existing CCA clients/markets and work with leadership to expand CCA into new regions/markets. The role will coordinate closely with the CCA commercial team to market Calpine Energy Solutions’ value proposition and reputation among current and prospective clients. The role will serve as the lead for external affairs representing Calpine Energy Solutions’ CCA business to external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain relationships with key politicians and stakeholders in Cities and Counties in California that have not created a CCA to date with the objective of increasing the number of jurisdictions that form or join a CCA.
• Establish and maintain relationships with current and alternate public board members and executives of certain CCA clients, in coordination with respective Account Managers with the objective of increasing awareness of Solutions services, performance and critical role in supporting the CCA market.
• Act as a spokesperson for Calpine Energy Solutions’ CCA business, including presenting at conferences, engaging with elected officials, speaking at public forums, working with stakeholder groups and other opportunities to positively position the company.
• Assist team in selling services to California CCA clients.
• Work with the commercial account management team to ensure appropriate current and prospective CCA client introduction, engagement and higher level relationship building.
• Attend key CCA and local government board meetings and represent Calpine’s interests.
• Work with executive management, regulatory and legislative team to develop and execute on regulatory and legislative initiatives.
• Develop and support a network of external stakeholders that have a favorable view of Calpine Energy Solutions’ CCA business and general market views.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key politicians and stakeholders in States considering CCA establishment and shape policy and legislative decisions.
• Be a thought leader as it pertains to market development strategies.
• Gain the trust and respect of peers by, among others, diplomatically balancing competing needs through tactful and effective negotiation.
• Support sales of new products and services to CCAs and other clients that represent new revenue opportunities.

Requirements • Undergraduate degree in a business, economics, political science, communications or similar field.
• Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in a market development, external affairs, public relations or a strategic business role.
• Minimum of 7 years of commercial or sales experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience working with government entities and/or energy utilities
• Existing relationships with, and knowledge of, Solutions’ CCA client base a plus.
• Experience managing external communications strategies and diverse stakeholder groups a plus
• Experience managing a company or profit and loss area a plus.
• Experience with data analytics a plus.
• Understanding of Calpine Energy Solutions’ capabilities and business objectives, including operational processes, products, services and key markets.
• Demonstrated network of political and CCA relationships.
• Ability to identify and thoroughly understand the needs of the CCA market in California and beyond and translate those into an actionable vision and strategy for our team.
• Ability to manage and drive deliverables across functional teams within the organization.
• Possess organizational vision and awareness.
