Description This is a contract role that is slated to go from 7/1/2020 to 12/31/2020.

No agencies please, the Software Architect will be a 1099 Consultant.

Due to Covid-19, this position will start off as remote until employees are back in the office.

Software Architecture at Populus is defined as a community driven center, focusing on delivering a strategic and cohesive vision of the Information Services software ecosystem leveraging tooling, best practices, engagement, and software architectural design. Architecture is compliment to the development function that provides both application and enterprise design guidance. This position will perform analysis, requirements consultation, design, documentation and some development tasks associated with enterprise software initiatives for Populus Financial Group and its brands. Furthermore, the individual will engage primarily in research, strategy, prototype development and technology proposals that will accelerate PFG’s digital transformation efforts.

This position requires a strong technology background, a solid understanding of agile methodologies, and a bias for continuous improvement and operational excellence. Superior knowledge and skills related to business and systems architecture as well as demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills are also essential.

Major Responsibilities
• Participate in the definition and maintenance of design pattern standards and principles. Responsible for ensuring alignment to the enterprise and solution architecture standards, industry standards, and best practices when designing solutions.
• Must be able to develop solutions where required, including proof of concepts. This includes producing design artifacts, developing and testing application, service and component code, supporting testing, change and release management, and production operation of code.
• Serve as a liaison between users and information technology professionals to establish user needs, technical design requirements, and analyze and resolve issues related to functionality and performance needs discrepancies.
• Responsible for the analysis of legacy and acquired technologies and the execution plan to support digital transformation efforts from legacy technology.
• Partners with implementation teams and third parties for design and review of projects with respect to adherence to standards, enterprise models, strategies, and best practices.
• Perform research and recommend new technologies that support digital transformation efforts.
• Key player in knowledge transfer to implementation teams, mentoring of junior staff, and technical design reviews.
• Managing and creating Enterprise software architecture, standards and process documentation
• Participate in systems requirements and specifications
• Conduct technical systems design reviews
• Provides guidance in support of DevOps functions as well as always maintaining a strong security minded focus in solutioning with OWASP awareness.
Requirements

Experience & Skills:

Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Master’s degree is desirable
TOGAF or equivalent certifications considered a plus.


Industry: 5+ years in systems development; 2+ years architecture experience

Technical:
• Proficiency with iOS and/or Android application stacks (e.g. Swift, Kotlin) and related mobile solution architectural principles and patterns.
• Proficient in best practice software design principles including DDD, SOLID, OOP,
• Proficient in enterprise service oriented architecture
• Proficient in relational database design principles
• Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering
• 5+ years of experience in working with current technologies including .Net, C#, JSON, REST, WCF, .NET Framework, SQL Server, DB/2, Visual Studio IDE, TFS/VSTS.
• Full stack technical skills including CMS (e.g. Sitecore), HTML5, JavaScript frameworks (e.g. AngularJS, ReactJS, or VueJS), and non-relational database considered a plus.
• Prefer experience with TIBCO or equivalent integration platforms considered a plus.
• CI/CD automation experience.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a desire to bring issues to resolution.
• Strong SDLC, project management, time management, and tracking/reporting skills.
• Aptitude for discovering and learning new technologies and concepts.


Communication:
• Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience to explain and present concepts to technical and non-technical audiences alike, including high level decision makers.
• Demonstrated technical leadership with a desire to mentor, teach, and lead teams.
• Ability to write technical documentation for various audiences including development teams, quality assurance team, and management.
• Proficient with Architectural Design Tools and ability to generate diagrams such as UML, Sequence, Flow-Charts, and Use Case.
