The Space Telescope Science Institute invites applications for a Postdoctoral Position to work with Dr. Andrew Fruchter on astrophysical transients. The postdoctoral fellow will work on programs using the Hubble Space Telescope and Chandra X-ray observatory
to study the energetics and astrophysical origins of gamma-ray bursts. Other work by the group that the fellow could participate in are HST studies of tidal disruption events, core collapse and superluminous supernovae and supernova cosmology. The James Webb
Space Telescope is expected to begin operations during the tenure of this position, so STScI should be a particularly exciting place.
The position is for two years, with a possible renewal for a third year. STScI is located on Johns Hopkins University Campus in Baltimore, Maryland, and has deep ongoing interactions with the JHU Center for Astrophysical Sciences. STScI offers an excellent
