Description The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), located on the Johns Hopkins University Campus in Baltimore, MD, is the science operations center for the Hubble Space Telescope and the science and mission operations center for the James Webb Space Telescope, scheduled to launch in 2018.
The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) at STScI is seeking an individual for the position of Senior Audio Visual and Multimedia Engineer to work with the Audio Visual Support team in its Business Services Branch. The primary responsibilities are to provide audio visual and multimedia services support for conferences, meetings, symposiums and events requiring the use of audio visual equipment and software collaboration tools. This position requires broad audio visual expert-level experience and knowledge of environments, hardware, software, tools and applications. It also requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work well with users and team members.

The Senior Audio Visual Multimedia Engineer must be available to work some occasional evenings and weekends.

Requirements Education: Requires a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a related field and 7+ years of experience in an A/V and/or multimedia field. Note: Substitution of additional relevant education or experience for stated qualifications may be considered. The starting position and salary are commensurate with education and experience.

The ideal candidate shall possess knowledge and experience with the following:

• Crestron touch screen systems and programming
• Polycom enterprise video conferencing hardware
• Tele-conferencing and video conferencing bridges
• Video conferencing applications ( e.g. WebEx, BlueJeans Primetime)
• Cloud Streaming solutions and implementations
• Audio mixing and sound re-enforcement
• Video production hardware and techniques
• Live streaming and encoding technology and tools
• Video switching machines ( e.g. Newtek Toaster)
• Digital video support (cameras, processing)
• Windows and Mac operating systems and environments

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally. Ability to actively contribute to and work in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Candidates must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident. ITAR clearance is required.
