We are looking for a Vice President of Supply Chain to be a key global strategic leader and a member of the Executive Leadership Team with responsibilities for leading and executing the following enterprise wide supply chain disciplines: manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, distribution, transportation, quality assurance, warehousing, logistics, and facilities. This position is responsible for developing and executing the vision, key business processes, strategies, infrastructure and talent to deliver exceptional supply chain performance across the enterprise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

STRATEGY:

• Drive the development and execution of the strategic vision for the Supply Chain organization and ensure Red Wing Shoes remains a consumer/customer centric organization.

• Establish Supply Chain strategies, goals, tactics and operating procedures in support of business strategies and plans in collaboration with other leaders and key stakeholders.

• Provide strategic consulting and analytic perspective to executive management and key business stakeholders on supply chain strategies, opportunities, and risks.

• Build and nurture long standing relationships with vendors, suppliers, and customers.

• Leverage supply chain best practices to deliver improved safety, cost, quality, service and delivery.

• Drive innovation and continuous improvement of key business processes, technology, products, services and experiences to make the complex simple and ensure our deep vertical integration remains a competitive advantage.

• Lead change management efforts and drive transformative change where appropriate in support of the strategic and operational objectives of the enterprise.

PEOPLE:

• Ensure that top talent is retained, hired, and developed throughout all Supply Chain organizational levels.

• Demonstrate excellent cross-functional leadership by building strong relationships at all levels of the organization with a focus on collaboration, communication, and accountability.

• Create a respectful environment among team members, and motivate improvement of individual and team performance to achieve desired business results.

• Develop strategies and plans to continuously improve employee engagement across the Supply Chain in both union and non-union work environments.

OPERATIONS:

• Ensure effective metrics and performance monitoring systems are in place to evaluate delivery of Supply Chain results.

• Ensure that operations meet agreed to safety, service, cost, quality, delivery and profit targets to meet customer objectives.

• Drive strategic cost optimization efforts through people, process improvements, technology, contractual efficiencies and elimination of wasteful spending.

• Achieve financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

Requirements REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Supply chain operations executive leadership experience that includes having ultimate accountability for global manufacturing operations and leading teams at multiple production facilities. Required global manufacturing operations leadership experience will be complimented by cross-functional leadership in product and manufacturing engineering, raw and finished goods management, quality control, and logistics.

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year College or university, MBA preferred and at least 10 years related Supply Chain operations executive leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and related experience as described above.

• Extensive experience leading the development and implementation of global strategic and operational plans.

• Documented success in delivering on strategic plans which have resulted in significant cost reductions and improvements in products, services and experiences.

• Proven executive leadership experience in mid-size (at least $500 million) to large, complex organizations.

• Highly developed business acumen, strategic planning, organizational assessment, and process engineering and re-engineering skills.

• Demonstrated experience as a “thought leader” – sought after for advice, counsel and judgment.

• Demonstrated ability to successfully influence senior management and critical stakeholders and to communicate the group’s vision and accomplishments.

• Exceptionally developed interpersonal and relationship skills as evidenced by successfully influencing and leading change in a highly matrixed environment.

• Demonstrated success in hiring, developing, retaining and coaching staff.

• Successful day-to-day maintaining of relationships with unions.

• Internal candidates will be considered based on their breadth and depth of experience within and outside of Red Wing Shoe Company and proven track record of results.
