Position Title Communications Specialist

Location Fargo (Field Support Office)
Description The Communications Specialist manages the creation of content for internal, organization-wide communications needs — primarily focusing on the Employee Portal. This position is responsible for creating content, developing internal content strategy (with the input of the Director of Communications), and managing the Employee Portal relationship with IT developers.

Specific Duties Include:
  • Manages content on the Employee Portal, with emphasis on news content.
  • Creates content — working with departments and locations — for the Employee Portal.
  • Develops strategy to increasingly grow the Employee Portal as a content tool. This includes partnering with other Communications team members (social media, video) to develop new approaches and ideas.
  • Partners with departments/locations/business units to determine areas of additional need for the Employee Portal.
  • Partners with IT to build content areas/plan structure of Employee Portal.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Conduct self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of R.D. Offutt Company.
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
  • Participate in all company/location driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings and other related efforts.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or English.
  • 3-5 years professional experience.
  • Must have knowledge of internal communications practices, including audience identification.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (preferably 365).
  • Creative storytelling skills.
  • Must have excellent editing/writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to focus on supporting and completing assigned projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well under stress with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic and an upbeat attitude.
