Description

The Safety Specialist I will partner with the Safety Team and is tasked with providing professional knowledge and developing expertise in the administration and support of the safety programs in areas of responsibility which may include OSHA and MSHA. They will also work on a range of projects supporting company safety initiatives.
Specific Duties Include:

  • Provide ongoing compliance, safety and regulation interpretation information and advice to Safety Leads and field management on matters associated with employee safety and other related issues.
  • Coordinate and monitor information required by Safety Verification Vendors to ensure compliance with programs and continued good standing with vendors.
  • Maintain and coordinate a variety of safety programs such as safety boot, prescription eyewear, powered industrial truck, and crane training along with other programs.
  • Assist with the creation of training specific to area of responsibility (OSHA, MSHA ) with the requirements of company policy and government and customer regulations.
  • Partner with field Safety Leads to manage, verify, coordinate and update safety program requirements and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes related to health and safety.
  • Assist in the development of processes, procedures and documentation around employee health and safety issues.
  • Collect, compile and analyze safety data collected through first reports of injury, monthly safety reports, workers compensation reports and various other reports.
  • Coordinate and prepare various reports for state, federal and insurance carrier requests as required.
  • Maintain and update the employee health and safety manual.
  • Coordinate safety training for all personnel in compliance with federal, state, local and company safety procedures using a variety of training methods.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of department safety work order tracking and reporting.
  • Support the Safety Team with compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Conduct self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of R.D. Offutt Company/RDO Equipment Co.
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
  • Participate in all company/location driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings and other related efforts.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required with preference for Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Environmental Health or related field
  • 1+ years of safety program experience
  • Some OSHA training preferred
  • Experience with farming operations preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Up to 25% travel required
