Title Surgical Services Assistant I (Per Diem)

Hours:  Per Diem; Variable days of the week; TBD
Location:  The Polyclinic First Hill Surgery Center

 

POSITION OBJECTIVE:    Participates as part of the peri-operative team in assisting nursing staff in support services necessary for safe and efficient care of patients within the various areas of surgical services.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Greets and accompanies patients to pre-operative area.
  2. Escorts visitors to waiting/pre-operative/PACU area as needed.
  3. Accompanies patients to their vehicles upon discharge.
  4. Performs basic clerical duties such as filing, answering the telephone and routing calls or taking messages.
  5. Assists with OR room turnover and maintains a clean and orderly patient environment throughout the department.
  6. Assists with PACU Phase 1 and Pre-Post turnover.  Maintains a clean and orderly patient environment throughout the department.
  7. Equipment cleaning throughout FHSC
  8. Organization, supply coordination and stocking of materials and linens
  9. Assists with Quality Improvement as directed
  10. Respects patients’ rights.
  11. Demonstrates accountability and maintains strict compliance with patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.

7. Competence in oral and written communication.

8. Intermittent and prolonged physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, pulling and pushing of carts, equipment, etc.
