Location:  The Polyclinic First Hill Surgery Center 


The RN’s primary role is to provide personalized patient care; support the provider’s practice by performing clinical duties, provide and direct the nursing care of the patient in the operating room.  The RN’s communication, conduct and performance should support the Polyclinic’s efforts in becoming a High Performance Organization  

 

Scope of Practice:

Assessment, nursing diagnosis, setting goals, planning care strategies, implementing aspects of care as directed, delegating care to qualified others, supervising, evaluating, teaching, managing care, maintaining client safety and collaborating with other health care members.

  • Assessment and Analysis: Initiate data collection and analysis that includes pertinent objective and subjective data regarding the health of the patient.  The RN is responsible for the ongoing assessment, including the assimilation of data gathered from LPN’s and/or other members of the team.
  • Diagnosis and Problem Identification: Use patient data and nursing scientific principles to develop nursing diagnosis and to identify the patient’s problems in order to deliver effective care.
  • Planning: Plan nursing care which will assist patients and families with maintaining or restoring health and wellness or supporting a dignified death.
  • Implementation: Implements the plan of care by initiating nursing interventions through giving direct care and supervising others on the team.
  • Evaluation: Evaluate the responses of individuals to nursing interventions and is responsible for the analysis and modification of the nursing care plan consistent with intended outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers into the practice and provide instruction and/or direction as necessary both on the phone and in person.
  • Act as the admitting RN in the surgery center as needed
  • Coordinate patient care intra-operatively.
  • Process operative paperwork.
  • Perform circulating and scrub duties.
  • Coordinate transition from surgery to recovery.
  • Assist in the recovery room as needed.
  • Order office medications and narcotics.
  • Maintain accreditation paperwork/certification.
  • Complete documentation and records with accuracy for the care administered and necessary for the patient’s care.
  • Coordinate quality assurance chart reviews,
  • Administer injections & oral meds following the plan of care and/or physician orders.
  • Assess and analyze patient care needs and work with the provider to coordinate plan of care.
  • Obtain vital signs
  • Maintain clean surgical areas
  • Stock, order, maintain supplies according to the policies and procedures established by the Practice Management Dept. and Central Supply and prepare surgical areas as needed.
  • Practice safety and OSHA regulations in regards to biohazard & non-biohazard waste.
  • Understand and deliver quality customer service consistent with the Polyclinic’s efforts in becoming a High Performance Organization.
  • Follow established policies and procedures related to the position.
  • Meet or exceed the performance measures established by the Practice Management Dept.
  • Participate and contribute in a team-based environment. 
  • Participate and contribute in quality projects
  • Follow OSHA/WISHA (including usage of PPE) guidelines
  • Follow HIPPA regulations
  • Adapt and perform effectively in a continuously changing environment, and in occasional difficult situations.
  • Maintain a team supportive attendance record.
  • Communication, conduct and dress portray a professional quality at all times.

 

Requirements

Education: 

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

 

Certification/Licensure: 

  • Current Washington State license; BCLS certification is preferred.
  • Experience working as an OR RN for one to two years.(preferred)
  • ACLS certification
  • PALS certification (preferred)
