1st shift 7am to 3:15pm M - F.

Summary: Envisions and designs [using computer software] all types of dies, fixtures and other design functions found in a manufacturing plant. Applies problem-solving skills in performing own work and in assisting others in their work. Analyze potential problems in all stages of design process, providing feedback and suggesting improvements. Trains and assists others as needed. Continually acquires and maintains knowledge of die design/build through hands-on experience.

1st shift 7am to 3:15pm M - F.

Essential Functions:
1. Analyzes parts-bends and extrudes, using and including all views from the blueprint, whether on hard copy or computer.
2. Visualizes parts going through die design, and then conveys the understanding and explanation of the process to others.
3. Utilizes necessary resources (including computer software) to design parts and all types die designs.
4. Modifies menus in design software to increase design speed and accuracy.
5. Creates and uses templates in the CAD environment in order to expedite the design process.
6. Utilizes setback for unfolding flat blanks.
7. Utilizes trigonometry in die design.
8. Creates charts and/or tables to capture non-predictable bends, offsets and extrusions in order for information to be easily retrieved.
9. Addresses questions and solves die design-related problems and concepts, making recommendations and suggestions for improvement.
10. Seeks the input of others and observes applied tooling processes in order to better own understanding.
11. Applies innovative ways to design tooling to eliminate number of hits, cost, size, and difficulty of producing parts.
12. Designs components, applying necessary concepts of how they can be machined or manufactured, incorporating the level of detail needed for the toolmakers’ function in the die building process.
13. Designs to incorporate the safe, efficient and ergonomic operation of the press operators, using their input to design more effectively.
14. Organizes and updates files.
15. Designs components within the parameters of the EDM machine.
16. Designs parts for the Fabrication Department.
17. Organizes and prioritizes own workload and assists others in doing the same.
18. Assists toolmakers, as needed, in the building of dies.
19. Assists in teaching other designers.
20. Uses Axapta software programs to enter time/payroll information, job information, etc.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Experience and Skills Required: At least three years of recent stamping die design and related mechanical and shop experience and at least one year of BTD related experience which includes the following skills and abilities:
1. Strong working knowledge of the tooling process and machining equipment.
2. Strong working knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods and practices used in production jig and fixture operations.
3. Strong ability to problem-solve.
4. Ability to train others and serve as a role model, mentor to other designers.
5. Must have the ability to understand, follow and issue routine oral and written instructions.
6. Must be highly self disciplined and efficient.
7. Knowledge of related safety requirements to include proper use of safety equipment and proper safety precautions.
8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and to present ideas effectively, orally and in writing.
