Description Summary Under the direction of the Foundry Manager, the 3rd Shift Supervisor directs leadworkers, maintenance personnel, and production workers in the foundry. The 3rd Shift Supervisor reviews production and work orders, organizes and assigns work, and assists employees in their performance of the work. This includes maintenance and repair of ladles and furnaces. The 3rd Shift Supervisor anticipates personnel problems, and resolves problems to minimize their effect on production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
1.Prepares melt department for production.
2.Supervises other areas of foundry.
3.Works with day shift supervisors.
4.Orders materials and tools in timely manner.
5.Works with vendors to improve furnace practice.
6.Insures safety of employees.

Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements Supervisory Responsibilities Is responsible for direct supervision of all foundry employees working on 3rd shift.

Education and/or Experience

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
