Description Summary: The CNC Operator–Set up Trainee is responsible for operation of various CNC machines where setup has been completed and maintaining machine operation. Individual will have an active role with performing removal and resetting of tooling, also performing full set ups with assistance.

Must be able to read and comprehend, work instructions, blueprints, basic program movements. Operator will perform inspection of machined parts by the use of micrometers, calipers, and fixed gauges and other various measuring instruments.

Training others of these skills also required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities to which competency will be measured include the following and are required for possible advancement:
1. Operation of various types of CNC machines producing machined parts.
2. Requires ability to comprehend verbal/written instructions and perform them.
3. Requires ability to comprehend/interpret blueprints and specifications.
4. Knowledge of use of micrometers, calipers and fixed gauges.
5. Maintaining operation of machine process.

6. Perform removal and resetting of tooling independently.
7. Perform full set ups with assistance.

8. Requires ability to read and follow program movements.

9. Requires routine maintenance of machines including oil and lubrication.

10. Maintaining cleanliness work area and equipment in a prescribed manner.

Personal measuring and hand tools are required, list will be provided at time of interview, employee evaluation or upon request.



Work subject to final inspection.
Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Minimum 6 months related experience and/or training in performing set up.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Blue prints and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondences. The ability to communicate effectively.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal effectively with routine problems and situations.

Stand or walk 100% of the shift, frequent bending and lifting 30-40 lbs. frequently, unassisted. 70 lbs. occasionally, assisted or unassisted.
