Description Summary The Foundry Floater Trainer is responsible to train all Foundry Floaters in all production areas of the foundry departments. The Floaters will be assigned their duties on a daily basis as needed in the various departments (Coreroom, Cleaning, Coresetting, Melt and Molding). As a Floater Trainer, job knowledge and productivity are expected to show significant improvement over the Foundry Floater positions. The Floater Trainer will require little supervision to accomplish his/her assignments. The Floater Trainer, under the direction of the Foundry Manager/Superintendent/Supervisor may be asked to assist in the training of lesser-experienced foundry employees. The Foundry Floater Trainer is expected to set a positive example to all other foundry employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities to which competency will be measured include the following.
1.As a Coresetter position the Foundry Floater Trainer will be responsible for proper instruction of placement of various
size cores into the proper molds as they pass on the conveyor.
2.As a Grinder, the Floater Trainer is responsible for instruction of rough grinding of castings, operating trim
presses, and sorting the various castings into the proper bins.
3.As a Coremaker, the Floater Trainer will be responsible for instructing other Foundry Floaters in the cleaning, inspecting, counting and
boxing the various cores.
4.In the Melt department, the Floater Trainer will be responsible for instructing the physical loading of the induction
furnaces, maintaining charts as to metal types and number of heats per shift. Also, transfer metal
to auto-pour, control melt, and pour molds.
5.The Foundry Floater Trainer will be a leader in following all quality and safety standards.
6.Maintain cleanliness of work area in prescribed manner.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Stand or walk 100% of shift. Frequent bending, twisting, carrying, and lifting of up to 30 pounds unassisted during shift and hoist operation. Must be able to handle fast paced environment. Good hand eye coordination and manual dexterity.
