Description Summary Under the direction of the Machine Shop Superintendent, the Machine Shop Supervisor directs employees; reviews work orders and ensures that production schedules are met; organizes and assigns work, and assists employees in their performance. The Machine Shop Supervisor anticipates maintenance and personnel problems and resolves the problems to minimize their effect on production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
1.Makes sure safety procedures are in place and followed.
2.Sets work schedule to assure production schedules are met.
3.Recommends process and equipment concepts/ideas.
4.Ensures quality parts are produced.
5.Directly supervises employees.

Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements Supervisory Responsibilities
Is responsible for direct supervision of employees working in department during shift.

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.



Computer Skills



Must possess ability to work with typical pc and programs.
