Description Summer School Coordinator/Cesar Chavez Academy Lower Elementary

Summary
A highly effective teacher who supports school leadership by leading a team of grade-level or subject-area teachers for summer school. Provides , co-teaching, co-planning, and on-the-job development. Takes a leading role during co-taught lessons to assist peers in improving their skills, leads teacher team meetings, and/or works with new or struggling teachers to improve their delivery of instruction.

Expectations/Duties:
• Observe and provide job-embedded feedback to other teachers for the purpose of improving their skills and proficiency
• Develop a culture of collaborative professional practice
• Be a resource provider
• Helps colleagues implement effective instructional strategies: ex. differentiated instructional strategies, lesson planning, incorporating HOT questions and strategies, planning cooperative learning lessons, modifications and accommodations, etc…
• Serve as a mentor for novice teachers
• Provide leadership in the “Instructional Learning Cycle” model through facilitating meetings, collecting and analyzing data and providing instructional strategies that support data driven instruction
• Lead the creation and implementation of team and grade-level goals
• Facilitate team discussions about improving instructional practices
• Ensure the maintenance of effective routines for monitoring student progress
• Lead discussions about and improvement of grade-level curriculum
• Provide the necessary information, encouragement and support for team development
• Develop meeting agendas and keep team on task.

• Serve as a liaison between the grade-level team and school leader:
• Collaborate with school leader and other colleagues to address team, grade-level and instructional needs
• Collaborate to develop priorities for academic improvement.
• Assist in facilitating school-wide staff development activities.
• Act as a liaison between school leader and teachers to ensure effective communication.



Requirements • Cesar Chavez Academy Lower Elementary certified teacher
• A minimum 4 years of classroom teaching experience
• A minimum of 3 years of “effective” or “highly effective” performance ratings
• A history of supporting school improvement goals and the school’s mission and vision as demonstrated
