“CCA Vernor” serves students in grades K-2 with a large number of EL/ESL students and families who are new to the country. High levels of support for instruction are provided including paraprofessionals in each classroom, academic interventionists, a strong Response to Intervention program, and EL/ESL support. Opportunities for parent learning are also provided including English classes, parenting classes, and a host of other supports. CCA has a high level of parent involvement. CCA Lower El is a warm and welcoming learning environment for young children and their families! Candidates must be positive, creative and collaborative, and must have a mindset to put kids first. The school improvement focus is to improve student achievement!

Assist SEI and/or mainstream classroom teacher(s) in the delivery of instruction to English Language Learner students in a Title III program. This paraprofessional may provide instructional support to individuals, small groups, the entire class, or other configurations of students, as directed by the teacher and/or administrator, necessary to support quality teaching and learning. This paraprofessional also assists the supervising teacher in reinforcing topics introduced by the teacher as well as supporting students in completing work assigned by the teacher of record.

*Support students in gaining language proficiency by reinforcing academic standards introduced and assessed by the teacher of record.
*Assist students in accomplishing the daily educational objectives outlined by the teacher.
*Provide support in the form of guided practice, translation (if applicable), or other techniques, as guided by the teacher.
*Assist in delivering instruction under the direct supervision of the teacher.
*Attend trainings to gain knowledge on the effective use of instructional resources, methodologies, strategies, and/or techniques that enhance the learning opportunities of English Language Learners, which may include but are not limited to technology and online resources.
*Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment in the classroom; may include assisting in communication of behavior and conduct expectations.
*Attend parent/teacher conferences as needed to support the teacher in communicating with parents and/or guardians about student academic achievement, behavior or other topics.
*Maintain accurate and complete records as required. Maintain the confidentiality of student records and student information. Complete any documentation necessary for the school to be in compliance with Title III and SEI regulatory requirements, such as time and effort reporting.

Good general reading, writing and math skills as evidenced by meeting No Child Left Behind requirements for paraprofessionals (holds an associate’s (or higher) degree, or 60 college credits, or passing score on an equivalent state-approved assessment).

*Understanding of federal Title III and state SEI requirements.
*Demonstrated proficiency in an instructional support capacity, as acquired through prior experience in tutoring, teaching or similar work experience in education.
