Title HR Generalist

Description Works collaboratively with VP/HR and other HR department members to ensure consistency with HR policies and practices, as well as with state, federal and local law. Leads staff recruiting. Processes payroll. Assists with other HR functions. Provides outstanding HR customer service to Leona schools in the Midwest.

Leads recruiting efforts for Midwest personnel. Administers company’s eRecruit system including initial position requisitions, work-flow issues, and providing customer service to school-based personnel in system use; assists school-based personnel in drafting advertisements; places job-board advertisements as needed; participates in other recruiting activities.

Performs payroll functions for assigned schools. Processes timesheets and performs data entry to generate semi-monthly payroll. Generate reports and performs quality checks and other verification to ensure the accuracy of data entry. Audits payroll on a regular and as-needed basis to ensure the accuracy of paychecks, payroll process, budget coding and employee file records in HRIS; as well as other related payroll functions.

Administers unemployment claims for assigned Midwest locations, including responding to initial claims, assembling documentation for claim protests, arranging witnesses for hearings, and acting as company representative at hearings.

Administers various HR plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.

Ensures appropriate new-hire processing for assigned Midwest locations.

Supports other areas of Human Resources as assigned. Performs filing and other clerical duties as assigned to support the overall H.R. department.

In all areas, maintains the confidentiality of employee data and takes active steps to safeguard against inappropriate sharing of information.

Assists VP/HR with employee relations issues.

Maintains HRIS records and compiles reports from database.

Travels to Midwest school locations as required.
Requirements Bachelor's degree and three to five years of HR experience, OR a master’s degree in HR Management and two years of experience in the HR field, OR seven years of experience in the HR field, OR any similar combination of education and experience.

Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration.

Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.

Strong recruiting and social media experience and skills.

Proficient in Google Suite.

Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.

A high level of interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to identify and resolve problems and gain cooperation from others.

Professional Human Resource (PHR) certification preferred.

Experience with HRIS systems preferred.
