The intern candidate will gain exposure to and assume responsibilities for a variety of QA functions to support the QA Manager and to effectively implement the QA Program at specific processing facility. The Quality Assurance Intern is a seasonal hourly position that reports to the QA Manager and the Vessel or Plant Manager. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

¨      Daily responsibilities may include: performance of sanitation inspections, quality control inspections, and implementation of HACCP Plan.

¨      Candidate will develop familiarity with Internal Product Specifications and Customer Specifications.

¨      Position assists in ensuring facility conformance with regulatory standards.

¨      Assist in preparation and compliance of third-party audit requirements.

¨      Ensure conformance with product quality and food safety standards.

¨      Deliverables may include weekly or monthly reports and independent projects as assigned.

       ¨      Other duties as assigned.  

Requirements

Skill and experience required: 

¨      Candidate should have background in mathematics, life sciences, or food science field.

¨      Must be available to work from June 1 to August 31 (dates are flexible).

¨      Must be 18 years of age or older.

¨      Able to work with seafood including various types of fish and shellfish.

¨      Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the work shift.

¨      Able to follow directions and adhere to work rules.

¨      Prompt, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.

¨      Must have the ability to work well under pressure, 12 or more hours per day, 7 days per week.

¨      Must be willing and able to work with other departments in a team atmosphere.

¨      Must be willing and able to live and work in confined quarters in a multi-cultural environment.

¨      Must be professional at all times and represent Icicle with the highest standards.

¨      Required to don an immersion survival suit and be physically able to board life raft or cross to another vessel without assistance in the event of an emergency.

¨      Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

 

Work Environment:

Must be able to work 7 days a week, 12 hours a day in wet, cold conditions. There are areas within the plant that contain moving and loud machinery, and hearing protection and other safety and protective equipment is required.
