Description GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Supervise all areas of crew safety and provide medical treatment on a fish processing vessel in remote area of Alaska. Responsible for management and coordination of health, safety and regulatory compliance and implementing a safe working culture consistent with corporate policies and objectives. Oversee safety issues during maintenance and repair activities as needed. This position is served by two similarly trained individuals working opposite shifts who report directly to the Vessel Manager. Safety compliance support is provided by the corporate Environmental, Health & Safety Dept.

COMPENSATION:
• Depends on experience. Transportation is provided from/to Seattle upon completion of contract. Room and Board provided. Benefits provided upon eligibility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with all departments to establish safe work practices and ensure they are followed.
• Conduct extensive safety orientations and training for all employees.
• Administer first aid, respond to medical issues and emergencies for approximately 225 employees, and communicate with our third-party medical professionals as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA and U.S. Coast Guard regulations and related company policies and procedures.
• Oversee proper vessel loading techniques, routinely inspect facility for proper machine and other safeguards, perform drug testing, and conduct accident investigations.
• Maintain accurate, timely and compliant records and reports.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong industrial/maritime safety background.
• Current EMT or higher certification preferred.
• Significant first-aid and clinical experience strongly preferred.
• Current OSHA 511/5410 certification preferred, or must be willing and able to obtain certification upon hire.
• Previous vessel and seafood experience strongly preferred.
• Moderate to good computer skills; able to easily navigate within Microsoft Outlook and Office Excel and Word documents.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks with minimal supervision. Must be self-motivated.
• Proven ability to work cooperatively within all levels of an operation/company.
• Prompt and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required.
• Must have the ability to work well under pressure, 12 or more hours per day, 7 days per week.
• Must be willing and able to work with other departments in a team atmosphere.
• Must be willing and able to live and work in confined quarters in a multi-cultural environment.
• Must be professional at all times and represent Icicle with the highest standards.
• Successful completion of drug test required.

WORK SCHEDULE:
• Ability to work in remote Alaska, onboard a processing vessel for approximately 8 months out of the year. The work schedule in Alaska requires long hours, up to 16-hours per day and 7 days per week.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Must be able to work 7 days per week, 12 or more hours per day in wet and cold conditions. During the 12-hr shift, this position will be split between the office providing medical care for our workers and making safety oversight rounds throughout the vessel. The factory processing areas and engine room contain moving and loud machinery and hearing protection and other personal protective equipment is required.
