Title CAP Community Relations Officer

Description The Community Relations Officer is responsible for coordinating, organizing and steering efforts to represent Cooke Aquaculture Pacific (CAP) favorably in the Clallam County community. This position acts as a liaison for the organization and the local community, develops and implements programs that promote goodwill and fosters positive relations with community leaders, and professionally represents the company with governmental agencies, industry groups and local community members. He or she will be responsible for participating in community based coalitions and meetings in order to network and cultivate community support for CAP initiatives and business practices; will oversee the development and distribution of publications and informational materials (in coordination with the Cooke Aquaculture Communications team) to enhance local community awareness of CAP and its benefits to the local community; and will educate key community stakeholders on global aquaculture enterprises. Reporting to the General Manager of Cooke Aquaculture Pacific, the Community Relations Officer will coordinate activities and materials with the Cooke Aquaculture Communications team.
Requirements RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supports and represents the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
• Supports the General Manager as liaison with the local community.
• Coordinates, organizes and steers community efforts, to represent CAP favorably in Clallam County.
• Develops and implements programs to promote goodwill and fosters positive relations with community leaders.
• Participates in community based coalitions and meetings in order to network and cultivate community support.
• Positively represents the company with governmental agencies, industry groups and local community members.
• In consultation with the Cooke Aquaculture Communications team, creates and distributes publications, information materials, announcements, etc. to enhance communications with the local community.
• Educates key community stakeholders on aquaculture sector and benefits to the State of Washington and the USA in general.
• Other duties as assigned by the General Manager of CAP and the Cooke Communications team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven experience working in a community relations position or equivalent field experience.
• Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
• Strong leadership, mentorship, presentation and public speaking skills.
• Ability to establish credibility and work professionally with all levels of employees, management, governmental agencies and community members.
• Ability to work independently to successfully complete projects and achieve program goals.
• Ability to speak before groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence.
• Demonstrated program development and implementation skills.
• Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Adobe.
• Demonstrated knowledge and interest in the aquaculture sector.
• Previous experience working in aquaculture, agriculture or forestry industries is preferred.
• Willing and able to work extended hours as the job requires.
