Position Overview

The Operations family houses all the specialists that monitor, change, support, and handle day-to-day activities required to Run the existing IT systems within the company.

Platform operations must ensure reliable, performant and cost-effective capabilities to run business software.  Platform operators must understand current and future technical platforms from the hardware, operating system, communications, security, and system services layers. They are responsible to plan and implement the standard platforms for the company. This dynamic position offers the opportunity to work with emerging technologies and creative solutions to bring cutting edge IT services to support our airline and its customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Focus on internal customer needs
  • Demonstrate proficient understanding of operating processes used for systems
  • Ensure that system software is functionally appropriate, technically sound and integrated.  Test and implement system components using techniques that preserve system integrity
  • Assist in installation, customization, development, implementation and maintenance of computer/network   systems developed internally and/or in conjunction with an outside vendor
  • Document and communicate assigned work and progress to immediate project team, and management
  • Respond  immediately to production system problems and participate in technical problem resolution, under supervision, for problems of simple to medium complexity and of small risk 
  • Support the organization’s project management policy, practice and methodology
  • Completes tasks with minimal direction
  • Research and recommend alternative actions for problem resolution
  • Employ productivity aids in all aspects of assignments
  • Analyze, design, program viable solutions for medium complex technology problems that would improve data center and support activities. Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies
  • Support all production activities, resolving critical issues daily to ensure consistent supply
  • Understands the core business processes involved in the systems
  • Comply with project management methodology requirements as appropriate
  • Develops or help to develop the knowledge assets required for the operation
  • Provide timely and accurate progress information to project status reports
  • Validate and/or test systems monitoring & logging required as acceptance into Operations
  • Ability to interpret designs and solutions for cloud deployments and analyze readiness for production
  • Identify process or system enhancements for business customers
  • Develop cost analysis estimates
  • Other duties as assigned



Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (In lieu of degree – 7 years of experience in IT)
  • 3 years of work experience in Information Technology
  • Proficient understanding of Virtual Infrastructure, storage, Unix and Windows IT Operating System & hardware components
  • Experience working with development teams to build solutions that utilize the enterprise monitoring/logging, are “self-healing”, and require minimal to zero maintenance
  • Ability to utilize the corporate project management methodology and lead small to medium project of low to moderate risk to the enterprise that are low-to-moderate complexity
  • Ability, within a specific technology area to independently complete root-cause analysis, design solutions, write code, perform testing, provide documentation, and implement medium size development projects or major components of large projects
  • Ability to adhere to the Enterprise Architecture Standards and Enterprise Security Standards
  • Ability to learn infrastructure management & deployment systems’ best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with multiple areas of systems and computer operations
  • Knowledgeable of Infrastructure, monitoring and Help Desk operations and actively participate in it
  • Proficient knowledge of support and operations practice, concepts, and technology obtained through formal training and work experience
  • Proficient knowledge of technical/business environment
  • Excellent partnering, communication, and negotiation skills to gather business customer requirements and communicate effectively with technology development and support groups
  • Microsoft, VMWare, and RedHat certifications
  • Travel or similar Industry Experience
