Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, in collaboration with SVP, Marketing, the strategic positioning of Hawaiian Airlines with consumers, the broader public and employees
  • Identify innovative opportunities to tell the story of Hawaiian Airlines
  • Oversee network of market-based PR agencies / partners to extend the global reach and effectiveness of Hawaiian Airlines’ communications
  • Drive employee engagement and awareness of key messages through effective internal communications
  • Ensure the visibility and positioning of Hawaiian Airlines senior leaders both internally and externally in the media, the community, and the industry
  • Lead strategy and execution of communications in crisis situations
  • Serve as a senior external spokesperson for Hawaiian Airlines with media and public
  • Cultivate effective working relationships with media outlets (local, national and industry-specific)
  • Collaborate with Government Affairs and Community Relations teams to ensure alignment of communications efforts
  • Collaborate with VP, Marketing and E-Commerce to ensure consistent strategy and effective use of content across earned, owned, and paid channels
  • Manage a high-performance team of communications professionals

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in in communications, digital media, marketing, journalism, or related field
  • 7 years or more experience in internal and/or external communications
  • Strong leadership experience and managerial competence
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute complex communications programs in a variety of channels
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of media channels
  • High level of tact and diplomacy
  • Strong analytical background, proven problem-solving skills, attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality at all times

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working internationally across cultures and languages
  • Commercial airline, public relations agency and/or travel industry experience
  • Experience working with Hawaii journalists and media outlets
  • Masters or other advanced degree in business, communications or a related discipline
