Join our team of professionals with this exciting opportunity for a Senior Internal Auditor in our Madison, WI office. This position is responsible for assisting in the execution of the annual internal audit plan. The Senior Internal Auditor will assist by performing and documenting compliance, operational, and financial audits that add value to Ascendium by validating compliance with applicable laws, regulations and contracts and identifying opportunities for process improvements.

Specific responsibilities for the Senior Internal Auditor will include:

  1. Leading and conducting internal audit assignments
  2. Obtaining an understanding of compliance requirements, policies, and procedures related to business processes
  3. Assisting with developing audit test procedures
  4. Performing audit fieldwork, such as reviewing documents and transactions
  5. Preparing and documenting detailed workpapers throughout all audit phases
  6. Reporting testing results to Internal Audit Management
  7. Evaluating workpapers and draft reports prepared by Internal Audit staff

Candidates for the Senior Internal Auditor position must have knowledge equivalent to a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field with 4-6 years of auditing or similar experience. Current certification as a Certified Public Accountant with Public Accounting experience is a plus!

Technical Skills for the Senior Internal Auditor Position

  • Analytical thinking
  • Working knowledge of accounting and auditing concepts
  • Experience implementing a prescribed audit methodology
  • Experience using data analysis tools
  • Experience using audit workpaper software
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software

This position requires occasional travel related to audits and continuing education.
