Title: Regional Sales Manager - Fertilizer

Job Summary: 

Responsible for growing volume through current customer account base and by developing new accounts. Directly responsible for calling on major accounts, developing and coordinating sales presentations and for ensuring adequate customer sales service is provided.  Manages development activity and coordinates sales distribution. Acts as liaison with headquarters for inventory management and logistics and he/she will play an integral role in executing long-term growth strategy from existing asset footprints


Essential Job Functions:

  • For growing volume through customer account bases by calling on major accounts, developing relationships, and coordinating sales efforts to ensure adequate sales customer service is provided
  • Acts as liaison with headquarters for inventory management and logistics
  • Plays a role in executing long-term growth strategy from existing asset footprints
  • Formulates and reports annual sales budget
  • Forecasting monthly and quarterly sales
  • Ensure that all customer information is captured, accurate, and maintained by Gavilon database
  • Provide input and requirements for the development of marketing and sales tools needed by yourself and possibly others to manage customers’ accounts
  • Customize sales processes to proactively manage the Sales accounts via the phone
  • Achieve sales target by maintaining existing business while gaining and developing new customers.
  • Serve as liaison between Sales, Operations, Credit and Finance to communicate programs, procedures and information from the cross functional groups to your customer base
  • Track and monitor sales & marketing performance and provide regular status reports to management
  • Use appropriate information systems to capture customer and sales information
  • Communicate customer best practices and marketing strategies
  • Recommend changes to information systems and business processes regarding sales
  • Identify opportunities to improve the execution of Sales and implement process improvements when appropriate
  •  Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings and completing assignments
  • Customer focused; build sales through marketing of Gavilon core products.

  • Ability to work and interact well with others
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Agriculture
  • Professional Crop Advisor a plus
  • Agronomy experience a plus
  • 5 years of experience in management and/or Regional Sales
  • 8+ years of related industry experience
  • Professional, seasoned, and self-motivated sales person
  • Enjoys working with teams, as well as, individually


Special Demands:


  • Frequent travel up to 75% of business workweek, varies by season, by company care, rental car and/or airfare for customer visits, trade shows, expansion projects, etc.
  • Frequent periods sitting in office environment using standard office equipment
