We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Psychiatrist who embraces our mission and is committed to providing exemplary service to our clients.

Overview:   

As part of a multi-faceted behavioral health treatment team, the Psychiatrist is responsible for providing psychiatric/medical evaluation, diagnosis and medication management services to our adult clients, ensuring compliance with program standards, contracts, policies, procedures and guidelines.

There is flexibility as to the full-time or part-time status. Additionally, there is opportunity for clinical appointment at a local teaching institution.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial and follow-up psychiatric evaluations, diagnose need for medications , monitoring client responses to medications
  • Request appropriate physical, neurological and other laboratory tests for the patient, reviewing and interpreting results to initiate course of action/treatment
  • Completes all appropriate records/documentation
  • Participates/leads meetings and/or training with medical staff or treatment team
  • Provides consultation, advice and guidance  to therapists and support staff regarding clients’ medications/treatment
  • Participates in peer reviews actively seeking to identify methods to improve quality care
  • Is involved in the teaching of psychiatric residents, psychiatric nurse practitioner students and physician assistant students
Requirements

The Ideal Candidate:

  • MD or equivalent
  • American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology certification (or eligibility for certification) in psychiatry
  • Licensed to practice medicine in California at time of hire
  • Possess a complete working knowledge of psychopharmacology
  • Skilled in effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a passion for serving communities negatively impacted by poverty, immigration status, discrimination and trauma
  • Demonstrate medical/clinical leadership skills
  • Possess good computer skills, a familiarity with MS Word and Outlook and a demonstrated ability to utilize electronic progress notes systems
