Scope of Position

The  Bilingual Program Coordinator will provide administrative and technical supervision of crisis line counselors for Korean and or Vietnamese speaking callers, ensuring compliance with program standards and guidelines.

PLEASE NOTE: Only qualified candidates that are bilingual English/Korean and or English/Vietnamese will be considered for this position. This position also requires that individuals are able to work various shifts throughout a 24/7 schedule.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and manages a highly effective team of bilingual crisis line counselors to accomplish the program’s short and long term goals.
  • Guides crisis line staff and volunteers in providing quality care and helps develop realistic and measurable objectives.
  • Provides management back-up for the crisis line and is able to function as a shift supervisor familiar with call intake, triage, and dispatch.
  • Routinely monitors crisis calls, reviews call reports and provides feedback and consultation to shift supervisors.
  • Assists the Crisis Line Director and Training Coordinator in identifying shift supervisor and crisis counselor training needs related to suicide prevention and crisis response, as well as recommends development and implementation of training sessions.
  • Participates in SPC training activities, which occur three times per year.
  • As a key member of the Crisis Line Management Team, assists in the maintenance and development of crisis center processes and procedures, special events, and assigned projects; participates in human resources activities such as hiring, training, performance evaluation and improvement plans; holds some fiscal responsibility.
  • Completes performance evaluations for Asian B/L Crisis Counselor team.
  • Assists in public speaking engagements, trainings, and media events.
  • Collaborates with key crisis line and outcomes department members to develop quality assurance processes.

Required Qualifications

  • College Undergraduate Degree or Higher.
  • Must be fluent in both English/Korean and or English/Vietnamese
  • Experience managing a team or serving as a shift supervisor, preferably in a 24/7 setting.
  • Experience working on a crisis line strongly desired. 
  • Background in mental health, public health, or other related field.
  • Demonstrate current knowledge of all job specific skills including volunteer supervision, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, telephone crisis line procedures, multicultural and socio-economic issues.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
