We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Psychiatrist to work part-time in support of our Inglewood Center. This position is responsible for providing psychiatric/medical evaluation, diagnosis and medication management services to our adult inpatient clients, ensuring compliance with program standards, contracts, policies, procedures and guidelines.

The ideal candidate will be excited and motivated by the opportunity to work in a program that emphasizes integrated healthcare. The schedule is flexible. Malpractice insurance is also covered by the agency.

Primary Duties

  • Conducts initial psychiatric assessments; diagnoses needs for medication; prescribes and monitors client responses to medications; obtains informed consent; and documents findings and treatment in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Requests appropriate physical, neurological, and other laboratory tests as indicated; reviews/interprets results and initiates appropriate course of action/treatment.
  • Attends, participates, leads and/or facilitates meetings and/or training with medical and/or other staff as requested or required by the Agency.
  • Provides consultation, advice and guidance to therapists and support staff relative to the diagnosis, and medication/other treatment for clients; responds to calls from staff for assistance with clients and/or medications.
  • Completes all appropriate records, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Participates in peer reviews in collaboration with Quality Assurance on medical/psychiatric practices and documentation completed by the medical/clinical staff to ensure all legal, contractual, and revenue generating reports meet or exceed required Agency and applicable regulatory agencies’ standards; actively participates in methods to improve quality client care.
  • Develops and maintains psychiatric skills through continuing education and maintains active unrestricted medical licensure and DEA certification.
Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Possess current M.D. licensure in the State of California.
  • Prior experience in community mental health (preferred).
  • Know and comply with Agency policies and procedures, HIPAA, DMH policies and documentation guidelines, and other state, federal regulations relating to quality assurance and improvement.
  • Demonstrate medical/clinical leadership skills, a complete working knowledge of psychopharmacology and experience in mental health service delivery to a broad-based individual and multi-cultural patient population.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Possess good computer skills; familiarity with MS Word and Outlook; demonstrated ability to utilize electronic progress note system.
  • Utilize analysis, experience, and judgment to make decisions.
  • Adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
  • Current California driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency’s insurance carrier.

Candidates must be able to clear all criminal background check in order to qualify for this position.
