Scope of Position

The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that Didi Hirsch staff are trained in and adhere to documentation standards consistent with excellent client care, and in compliance with contractual regulatory guidelines.


This is an ideal position for an experienced Care Coordinator that is looking to work in an administrative capacity within a DMH contracted social service environment.


Essential Functions

  • Works within a team to perform quarterly audits and review of charts for compliance, as well as accountability and internal responsibility.
  • Drafts accurate reports based on audit data using Excel spreadsheets.
  • Manipulates and compares reports (i.e., billing, IS, E2 etc.) to ensure accuracy between entered data and documents.
  • Performs site audits to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Identifies staff training needs in the areas of compliance for all program levels.
  • Participates in the development of Agency training based on needs, and routinely trains staff on agency/DMH LA County standards for documentation.
  • Maintains the Agency Documentation Training Manual.
  • Assists with the maintenance of documentation templates on the Agency’s intranet.
  • Recommends and assists in preparing new forms.
  • Attends county QIC meetings, and disseminates essential information relevant to staff throughout the Agency.
  • Attends and participates in routinely scheduled programs, as well as Division and Agency staff meetings.
  • Works with the QA team to conduct quarterly audits of charts for compliance, scheduling, as well as accountability and internal responsibility.
  • Assists with audits of Custodian of Records, and responsible for: draft reports, detail tracking, and follow-through on documentation problems and corrections.
  • Assists in preparation for County and State audits and site visits, as well as prepares reports in responses to audits, and plans of correction.



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least two years' clinical experience in a DMH environment.
  • At least 1 year experience in Quality Assurance at a DMH-contracted or directly operated program.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and partner with all levels of employees to identify solutions.
  • Know and comply with Agency policies and procedures, HIPAA, Department of Mental Health policies and documentation guidelines and other state/federal regulations related to quality assurance and management.
  • Current California Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to the Agency’s insurance carrier.

Candidates must be able to clear all criminal background checks in order to qualify for this position.
