Description Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the accurate settlement of wholesale and retail power transactions (physical and financial). This consists of validating retail and wholesale power transactions along with preparing related invoices. The candidate will prepare month end accruals and analyze the monthly estimate to actual discrepancies. The candidate will also assist with developing and documenting procedures for related activities, implementing controls, and recommending system enhancements. This individual will also be responsible for detailed analysis of commodity confirmations and comparison within the Deal Capture System (Allegro). In addition, candidate will be responsible for preparing various management reports as needed, and will serve as the back up for other Accountants within Back Office.

Job Responsibilities:

•Tracking and analyzing data from Energy Services Partner on a weekly basis.
•Lead monthly meetings for accruals and estimate to actual analysis.
•Prepare monthly journal entries.
•Coordinate multiple departments’ data into one consolidated monthly analysis.
•Validating energy supply activity and performing daily, weekly and monthly checkouts with counterparties and the Energy Service Partner. This will include all settlement and actualization activity as well as the preparation of sales invoices and review and approval of all third party invoices.
•Evaluate operational and business issues and make recommendations to management.
Requirements •Bachelor degree or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of experience required.
•Experience with accounting systems required.
•Experience with analyzing issues, defining problems, processing transactions in a timely and consistent manner, and adhering to generally accepted accounting principles.
•Possesses initiative, good decision making skills, and strong problem solving abilities.
•Ability to recognize when to seek clarification and understanding.
•Maintains confidentiality, and conveys the appropriate information to others.
•Must possess familiarity with wholesale energy trading and validation/settlement concepts.
•Must be able to manage and analyze large amounts of data. Must be able to identify issues, and develop, recommend, and implement solutions.
•Must be able to identify weaknesses in internal controls and recommend improvements, and must possess initiative, good decision making skills, and strong problem solving abilities.
•Requires the ability to effectively work across the organization to resolve issues and make recommendations for improvements.
•Must be able to effectively convey ideas and report complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner.
•Must be able to work independently with little guidance from management.
•Should be flexible and able to switch quickly from one project to another when dictated by business need.
•Must select appropriate means of communication, question to seek clarification and understanding, maintain confidentiality, and listen actively to others. Requires a positive, can-do attitude.
