Description The Systems & Network Analyst will assist the Senior System Administrator in managing the organization-wide systems and networking infrastructure to support Aspire's achievement and operational goals. The Systems & Network Analyst will support the Technology Operations team in the effective operation of Aspire servers, network equipment, and phone systems that are deployed throughout the Aspire network. The successful candidate is enthusiastic, self-sufficient, proactive, collaborative, resourceful, and highly analytical, with a can do attitude and the ability to think out-of-the-box. This position is based out of Aspire’s Home Office in Oakland, CA and will report to and work with the Senior Systems Administrator.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contribute to a technology support function that delights its customers: Aspire teammates (principals, teachers, staff, etc.) and students
• Perform System and Network Administration duties:
o Help manage the Aspire systems and network infrastructure in a way that emphasizes collaboration, sparks innovation, and values customer service, technical proficiency and lifelong learning
o Assist in determining logical solutions to complex system administration and application problems.
o Monitor and optimize the performance of computer systems and networks
o Support and maintain video teleconferencing infrastructure systems
o Support configuration and maintenance of servers and network equipment, via firmware and patch updates
o Maintain, monitor and troubleshoot virtual server infrastructure
o Manage, maintain and update images
o Collaborate with other technical and support staff to resolve infrastructure, server, network, and security issues
o Manage implementation of complex and diverse technology projects that improve teaching, learning, and operations at Aspire
o Share expertise and provide advice to help managers and directors from other teams (e.g., network, data infrastructure, school support, and teaching and learning technology) meet their technology and support needs
o Develop reporting tools to inform management and help decision-making about support activities, priorities, and performance.
o Administration of legacy and VoIP phone systems
o Manage data backups and disaster recovery operations
o Identify and implement automation opportunities to eliminate repetitive tasks
o Plan, coordinate, and implement network and systems security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware
o Take proactive measures to identify issues in servers and networks before they become problems
o Contribute to an effective and organized technology infrastructure
o Recommend changes to improve system and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes
o Create and maintain server and network infrastructure documents and runbooks that clearly map out the operation of the infrastructure and production systems in detail
o Travel to Aspire school sites as needed
• Perform other duties as necessary to support Technology Operations at Aspire

Requirements 1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities:

• Excellent technical knowledge of current network protocols, network infrastructure and standards, including WANs, LANs, virtualization, cloud computing, network and systems security, and web-based applications
• Experience configuring, managing and supporting Active Directory, Exchange, SSO, Google Apps, Windows, Mac, wireless access points, Cisco routers, firewalls, switches, Linux systems, legacy and VoIP telephony systems.
• Experience using scripts to automate tasks
• Experience with group policy
• Experience configuring and deploying software
• Excellent technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office and PC laptop components; Microsoft Server Products; working technical knowledge of MacOS and iOS a plus
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new areas of knowledge, technology, and systems
• Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills; high sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently; ability to work independently.
• Ability to research complex problems and develop cost effective solutions
• Demonstrated ability to document processes and improvement suggestions
• Works well independently and as part of a team; Able to effectively prioritize and multitask
• Strong customer-service orientation and ability to provide excellent service to all customers; understands the support needs of schools
• Track record of establishing effective relationships with business and technical staff
• Willingness and ability to travel by car to Aspire school sites (infrequent)
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours (nights and weekends) when necessary

2) Minimum educational level:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent work experience

3) Experience required:

• Some experience or strong interest in K-12 public education
• 3-5 years in a systems and network administration role
• 3-5 years in a customer service role
• Experience working in dynamic, high-performing environments and ideally in an educational environment
