Description GENERAL SUMMARY: Aspire Public Schools is running a series of blended learning pilots in our schools and is looking for someone to serve both as a teaching assistant and a person who can provide tech support and troubleshooting in the classrooms where our pilots are taking place. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in education technology and teaching, who are willing to learn and eager to provide support to teachers to ensure the success of the pilots. The Blended Learning Teaching Assistant will provide support to at least six different teachers on a five-day/week schedule. We hope to take what we learn from these pilots and apply these understandings to other Aspire schools.

• Supports classroom systems/procedures and helps manage student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning
• Supports teacher’s use of technology in the classroom by monitoring student behavior while on computers, and performing basic technology functions (i.e. rebooting computers) as needed
• Supports Aspire IT with basic computer set up and maintenance
• Supports software-based assessments, including assisting with creating an assessment schedule, administering the assessment, and helping with makeup assessments.
• Collects and disseminates data, and ensures that teachers and students are regularly aware of students’ progress, and can target instruction to assist struggling students.
• Responsible for becoming an expert user of blended learning programs; required to train new teachers in how to use the blended learning programs, and also for providing recommendations for program improvement where necessary
• Maintains school-wide culture of excellence around blended learning, including practices such as school-wide awards, individual and class incentives, and ensuring that best practices around blended learning are exhibited in all classes.
• Collaborates with Aspire team members to improve own and others’ instructional practices; shares best practices
• Helps classroom teacher(s) provide students and their families with regular and timely information on student progress
• Supports a school-wide culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for all students
• Actively participates in professional development activities related to the pilots
• Demonstrates knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Requirements 1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
• Strong facility with technology software and hardware.
• Ability to troubleshoot computer issues; inquisitive working style and desire to get to the root of technology issues
• Ability and willingness to reflect and improve
• Positive attitude and friendly demeanor
• Knowledge of child cognitive development and different learning styles
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents and community
• Comfortable with experimentation and trying new ideas; able to learn and adjust quickly.

2) Minimum educational level:
• Bachelors Degree

3) Experience required:
• 1+ year working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant preferred
