Aspire’s Data and Analysis Team is charged with analyzing achievement and organizational data as well as creating analysis products/tools to facilitate key stakeholder analysis of their own data.

The Data Analyst will play a key role in working with key stakeholders at the national, regional, school and teacher levels to analyze key assessment data, provide actionable analysis, train Aspire teammates in using Aspire’s data analysis products and tools, and coordinate supports between Aspire’s Home Office and regional teams.

This position will be based in Oakland, CA.

• Data Analyst
o Analyze external and internal achievement data to identify’ achievement strengths and challenges at the national, regional, school, and teacher levels.
o Provide actionable analysis to key stakeholders through coaching conversations, in person presentations, PowerPoint decks, etc.
o Provide coaching/analysis on Aspire’s data analysis products/tools to key stakeholders to increase student achievement.
o Work closely with regional teammates to coordinate Home Office data analysis and assessment supports with regional needs
o Become an expert on Aspire-wide and regional assessments
o Collaborate extensively with all involved teams including: Technology Infrastructure, Data Visualization, Teacher Effectiveness, Education, Secondary, and SPED.
o Some travel required including driving and air travel for trips to regions and schools to provide direct regional/school support (including Memphis, TN)
o Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools’ mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
o Perform other related duties as required and assigned.


1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities

• Demonstrated commitment to students and learning
• Demonstrated understanding of the Common Core standards and aligned curricula
• Demonstrated knowledge of using achievement data to increase student, teacher, and school performance
• Experience administering/analyzing MAP assessment data preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency using Excel as well as statistical analysis software (e.g. SPSS or Stata) to analyze student achievement data
• Demonstrated experience working with and providing professional development to school administrators and teachers
• Demonstrated proficiency using Tableau (visual analytics software) or aptitude for learning new software
• Demonstrated experience managing projects across multiple teams
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively
• Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills; high sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently; ability to work as a team
• Highly adaptable, able to be effective and maintain composure in fast pace and stressful environments
2) Minimum educational level:

• Bachelor's Degree; Masters preferred

3) Experience required:

• 3+ years in K-12 education, working with urban students as a full-time teacher
• 3+ years conducting data analysis around increasing student achievement
• 2+ years experience using Tableau, a visual analytics software, to analyze data highly preferred
