Description The After School Tutor tutors and supervises students in a high quality, personalized
education program for students and upholds the mission and values established by Aspire
Public Schools.

Responsibilities:
1. Tutors and provides enrichment activities for students in the after school program
2. Identifies unique student needs and collaborates with other team members and outside
service providers to diagnose and address learning challenges
3. Helps assess students regularly in accordance with Aspire guidelines
4. Collaborates with Aspire team members to improve own and others’ instructional
practices; shares best practices
5. Actively participates in professional development activities, including: training sessions
and working with lead teacher, principal, instructional coaches
6. Supports classroom systems/procedures and helps manage student behavior to ensure all
students are fully engaged in learning
7. Supports a school-wide culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for
all students
8. Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value
statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality
standards, and the code of ethical behavior
9. Performs other related duties as required and assigned

a. Knowledge of child cognitive development and different learning styles Ability and
willingness to implement Aspire Instructional Guidelines and Best Practices
b. Ability and willingness to reflect and improve
c. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with colleagues,
parents and community

2. Minimum educational level
a. High school diploma
b. Associate’s degree or 48 units of college credit
c. Fluency in Arabic

3. Experience preferred
1+ year working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant
Notes NOTE: We are looking for a person who loves working with children and is bilingual in Arabic and English. Ideal hours would be 4 – 6pm 2 or 3 days a week to support students learning English for the first time. These hours could be flexible depending on the candidate.
