The Program Manager, Post-Secondary Access and Success, collaboratively builds, maintains, evaluates, and trains and holds others accountable to participate in Post-Secondary Access and Success programming and to use program tools. Present program areas include College Knowledge, Early College High School, College Match, Post-Secondary Success Plans, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Alumni Tracking, and (in the near future) College Partnerships.

The collaborative team for this work includes the Director, Post-Secondary Access and Success; registrars; site-based academic/college counselors and college advisors; regional staff; Power School manager; and Team Secondary (a small leadership team that guides the development and implementation of our secondary and post-secondary visions).

The Manager’s work focuses primarily on program data tracking and program tools and resources. Implementation decisions, such a staffing models and curricular development, are the purview of site and regional teams. In these cases, the Manager may play a research and/or advisory role.

• Develop and support the implementation of an integrated, seamless, student- and family-centered suite of programs that will drive continuously improving student outcomes in the realm of Post-Secondary Access and Success.

• Research and adopt existing best practices and/or build Aspire practices for program strategies, resources, and tools, with particular focus on data collection, organization, and dissemination strategies that are highly actionable and lead to continuously improving student outcomes.

• Build Aspire’s capacity for continuous improvement of student outcomes through regular professional development, training, coaching and consultation around Post-Secondary Access and Success with colleagues across the organization.

• Provide actionable reports and deliver concise summary presentations to stakeholders across the organization, including the Board of Directors, senior management, Team Secondary, and others.

• Provide additional data to various colleagues upon request, for such purposes as resource development and state reporting.

• Keep updated on and update others on best practices and guidelines in the field, including by not limited to the following: UC, CSU, Cal Grant, CSAC, Common App, Coalition App, NACAC, WACAC, etc.

• Attend staff meetings with other members of our collaborative team.

• Exhibit positive rapport and communication with Aspire staff, post-secondary institutions and outside agencies, and families and students (in rare cases, as this position is seldom student- and family-facing).

• Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.


1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
Demonstrated commitment to students and learning
• Experience working in K-12 public schools
• Experience working in the Post-Secondary Access and Success field
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively and to interact effectively with different audiences
• Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills; high sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple workstreams concurrently
• Ability to work as a part of a team
• Demonstrated ability to adjust to and use new approaches in the performance of duties
• Deal with obstacles and constraints positively.

2) Minimum educational level:
• Bachelor’s degree required
•Master’s degree in education, counseling, social work or related discipline preferred

3) Experience required:
• See above
• Experience as a college counselor in a public education setting serving primarily low-income students and families is highly desirable
• Experience with program areas listed above is highly desirable
• Spanish bilingual is highly desirable.
