Description The Afterschool Assistant Director supports the planning and operations of a high-quality, personalized afterschool education and enrichment program for students, and upholds the mission and values of Aspire Public Schools. The Afterschool Assistant Director is responsible for carrying out all administrative components of the afterschool program, including attendance, payroll and other reporting, communicating with parents, overseeing volunteers, ordering supplies, maintaining files and providing other logistical and clerical support to the Afterschool Director as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supports the daily operation of the afterschool program.

•Maintains accurate student records, including attendance, and submits reports in accordance with Aspire procedures.
•Ensures compliance with all safety and other regulatory and/or funder requirements.
•Opens and closes the program in the absence of the Afterschool Director.
•Facilitates regular communications with parents/families about student attendance and behavior, as well as broader family engagement in the afterschool program.
•Assists in compiling and analyzing student performance data, conducting assessments and other data management as needed to support staff in delivering high-quality instruction.
•Provides occasional classroom, small group or individualized instruction as needed to support regular program operations.
•Provides other logistical and clerical support to the Afterschool Director as needed.

2. Creates an environment of high expectations for learning, student behavior and staff professionalism.
•Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports, Aspire Public Schools’ mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and code of ethical behavior.
•Fosters a program culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for all students.
•Develops and supports student behavior management systems and procedures to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning.

3. Oversees selected tutoring staff, contractors and volunteers as needed.

4. Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

5. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements 1 Required knowledge, skills & abilities:

•Strong organizational and administration skills, including ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
•Proficiency in use of computer technology and the internet, including MS Word and Excel.
•Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team and to facilitate teamwork to complete complex projects.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with a variety of colleagues and stakeholders including parents, teachers and community partners.
•Knowledge of child and/or youth development concepts and different learning styles; demonstrated enthusiasm for working with young people.
•Ability and willingness to reflect and improve own performance, including developing knowledge of Aspire Instructional Guidelines and participating in Aspire professional development.
•Computer and Internet search skills
•Spanish bilingual preferred

2) Minimum educational level:

•Associates degree required. Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience preferred.

3) Experience required:

•Experience working with children or youth in a school or community-based setting.
•Administrative/management experience in a nonprofit, school, or service business preferred.
•Experience as a teacher or teaching assistant preferred.
